A form three student from Ainamoi Secondary School is on the run after driving a 4-inch nail into the head of school principal over school fees, The Kenya Police say.
In a tweet posted on its official Twitter account, the Kenya Police has announced that it was hunting for a student who hit his principal with a nail. The Police department also said that the reason for the heinous act is allegedly the disagreement on school fees balance.
The culprit is said to have declined to go home for school fees balance. He was sent home to bring school fees balance amounting to KES 7,000. After committing the crime, the student ran away and is still lurking in oblivion. The Kenya Police tweeted:
“Police hunting Form Three student of Ainamoi Secondary School who drove four-inch nail into the head of principal after he was asked to clear Sh7,000 fee balance.”
Police stationed in Kericho are now looking for hints that could lead to the capture of the offender. Kericho Police Commander Silas Gichunge says that the 18-year-old student attacked Principal Godfrey Rono using a wooden plunk and a nail on 9th June, 2021.
It is alleged that the principal ordered the removal of the student’s locker from the class until he completes school fees. Students who witnessed the incident screamed for help, and bystanders resued the Principal and took him to hospital. After treatment and discharge, the principal is recuperating well.
Cases of student violence in school has risen significantly in Kenya since the ban of the cane. Just recently, a student stubbed school teacher with a knife in Kisii County. Several schools have also been torched by rowdy students across the country.
