Top 10 Most Selected Secondary Schools in Kenya

Form 1 most selected schools

Form one selection was done recently by principals of various secondary schools. Students were selected based on their choices in Class 8 and their performance in KCPE 2023. While some schools were not selected by any student, there are those schools that have been popularly selected by students, even beyond their capacities.

According to statistics from the most recent form one selection exercise, Kabianga High School is leading among the top 10 most chosen secondary schools in Kenya. The school, which is located in Kericho County in the Rift Valley region was selected by 186,357 candidates; yet it has a capacity of only 672.

The second most selected school is Nanyuki High School in Laikipia County, selected by 158,741 candidates. This surpasses the school’s capacity of 480.

Other third, fourth and fifth most selected secondary schools are Pangani Girls, Kapsabet Boys, and Alliance Girls respectively.

Maseno School, Nakuru High School (Boys), Butere High School, Mangu High School, and Alliance High School close the list of the top ten most selected secondary schools in the recent form one selection exercise.

Students who completed their KCPE examinations in 2023 have now been called up to their various schools and it is clear that many have been left out of their preferred schools due to lack of capacity and competitiveness of those schools.

Most of the schools in this list of top 10 most selected secondary schools in Kenya are national schools. The full list of form 1 most selected schools is shown below.
