The Education CS Prof. George Magoha has released KCPE 2020 results as the first candidate scores 433 marks followed by 432 marks. The first four candidates were from public schools.
Magoha started by thanking various stakeholders for making the KCPE exams a success. He began with thanking God, and most notably, his wife and family. He then went ahead to give overall outlook, saying that the results did not diverge significantly from past exams despite the COVID-19 pandemic which halted studies for over 10 months.
The CS also mentioned the school opening dates for third term amidst uncertainty as Covid-19 pandemic worsens. He said that schools reopen on May 10th, for all classes except Grade 4 and Form 1; but there is a catch. The Covid-19 cases will be monitored to ensure that the schools are safe before reopening – says the CS.
In regards to statistics, CS Magoha noted that among those who sat for KCPE in 2020, approximately 51% were male while 49% were female. Some counties such as Elgeiyo Marakwet, Nairobi, Migori and Isiolo recorded more girls than boys in this year’s KCPE examination.
The CS has also reiterated that all those who sat for KCPE in 2020 will join form one due to the 100% transition policy.
